Outdoor Party Themes for the Upcoming Spring

Spring is right around the corner, and it’s never too early to get going on party-planning season. The first major thaw brings about numerous opportunities for outdoor themed parties, and at Simply Wrappers, we’re here to help.

Our custom cupcake liners are the perfect accent to a spring-themed outdoor party. We can match up with any event – let’s look at a few popular or interesting party theme ideas for the springtime when the weather starts to get nice.

Graduation

These are still a couple months off in most cases, but it’s never too early to get planning. Whether it’s high school, college or even a middle school commencement, few party styles are more synonymous with an outdoor barbeque and a nice, healthy crowd.

You want to go big at a graduation. Lots of finger food is good for all the guests, and the meat of choice for the graduate of course. Cupcakes adorned with Simply Wrappers special cupcake liners in the school colors are only appropriate.

TV-Themed

Spring also brings about the restart of several of the day’s most popular television shows, so if you and your friends are into such things, it can be a great way to kick off the season. Maybe everyone has to show up in their best Game of Thrones garb, or perhaps everyone picks their favorite character and brings a party favor in their honor.

Breakfast for Dinner

The perfect alternative style for a sunset themed party. Use eggs and toast as appetizers, and include cocktails like the mimosa or Bloody Mary if guests are so inclined. For a little topper, revert back to the traditional style with some cupcakes.

Vegan Party

If you and your guests are of a healthier persuasion, why not celebrate it? A vegan or vegetarian party offers opportunities to get creative with fresh takes on traditional party specials, plus keeps things healthier than the standard get-together. And of course, for healthier cupcakes on the menu, the liners at Simply Wrappers don’t discriminate.

Fun Alternative Ways to Eat Cupcakes

At Simply Wrappers, our goal is to maximize the enjoyment you can get out of your next party or gathering. Our themed cupcake liners add that extra layer of detail and specificity to your party design, turning a fun snack into something more.

The fun doesn’t have to stop when our wrappers are peeled off a delicious cupcake, however. Most people have only ever eaten a cupcake one way – the traditional, frosting-on-top bite. Many go their whole lives without ever experimenting one of the many fun alternatives there are for eating a cupcake, and this is a travesty we can’t live with. Let’s look at a few of your other options for eating a cupcake.

Sandwich Style

The number one complaint people make when eating cupcakes? They’re too messy, mainly due to the frosting. It’s often heaped on top of the cake material, usually so high that it’s tough to eat without getting some frosting on your face or shirt.

Sandwich style eating gets rid of these concerns. Simply rip off the bottom of the cupcake, turn it over, and place it on top of the frosting, like a second piece of bread on a sandwich. You can press down the frosting to easier levels, and take simpler bites that don’t make so much of a mess.

Split Parts

There are some people among us who are very against mixing flavors, and we have answers for you as well. It’s easy enough to split a cupcake up into its distinct parts – cake, frosting, and filling if the cupcake has it. Many people choose to isolate these and eat them individually instead of consuming the whole package at once.

Mashed Up

Others enjoy a more crumbly treat, and there’s a method here for you too. Crushing up the cupcake in a small bowl changes the texture, and the frosting will help pieces of cake to stick to themselves. This is also perfect for flawed or messy cupcakes that you might struggle to eat normally.

Portion Sized

On a diet, or looking to shed pounds? If you’re still allowed to have treats of any kind, cupcakes are easy to split up into various portion sizes. Our special cupcake liners will still retain their form if they’re cut around, so it’s easy to split up portions and enjoy some wonderful flavor without as many calories added.

Got cupcakes on the mind now? The experts at Simply Wrappers are standing by to tell you how our custom cupcake wrappers are perfect for your next event.

The Subconscious Effects of Party Color Scheme

If you’ve shopped with us at Simply Wrappers before, you’ll know how our products can set off the feeling and mood of a party. Our unmatched color section for our custom cupcake liners leaves you dozens of options for setting the tone of your party and showing your guests what they’re in for.

Did you know, though, that the color scheme you use in a party can have even deeper meaning? People are subconsciously affected by color patterns all the time, and there’s a reason some of the top planners out there are paid huge sums of money to get these kinds of details right in a corporate setting. Let’s look at a few of the effects color scheme can have on people in a party setting, and the benefits these may hold for you.

Psychological Effects

Colors and color combinations create feelings in people, both above and below the surface. This could mean the color of anything at a given party: Lights, flowers, furniture, linens…and cupcakes or other foods. It’s all part of the scheme.

Take the color blue, for instance. Blue is the color of water and the sky, and as such, many people find it calming and soothing. It can lower heart rates and slow respiration, and can have a real effect on the way people think about or perceive things they see or hear.

Decision Making

In turn, this can affect decision making in many people. Subconscious messages are sent through various color schemes, and they can linger in people’s minds down the line even when they may have consciously forgotten about them.

Branding and Marketing

The most obvious and common application for these themes is in the corporate world, where business events are commonly designed with these ideas in mind. A company looking to energize investors or make them more aggressive, for instance, might theme a party heavily red, a color which can incite these emotions. Many will infuse color schemes with the company logo, or will just set a basic mood using a combination of color and light schemes.

There’s no better way to accentuate these themes than with special cupcake liners from Simply Wrappers. To find out how our themed cupcake wrappers might benefit your latest party, speak to one of our experts today.

Planning the Perfect Valentine’s Day Party

Simply Wrappers is your first stop for accessorizing anytime you’re throwing a themed holiday party, and there’s a big one around the corner. That’s right, Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and we’re here with our themed cupcake liners to help accentuate the style of your party.

Whether it’s for a group of adult friends or simply a fun way to get the kids and a few of their crushes all in the same place, you want your Valentine’s themed party to go off splendidly. Here are a few tips for making that happen.

Theme

Firstly, you’ll want to pick your theme. This is your baseline for the rest of the party, the basis around which all other decisions are made. Keep a careful eye to your audience – nothing too racy if it’s a bunch of high-schoolers! Your theme defines how you’ll decorate outside, inside and throughout areas like the dining room. A few fun theme ideas, in case you’re coming up blank:

  • Affair of the Heart
  • Cupcake Tasting Party (perfectly complemented by Simply Wrappers custom cupcake liners)
  • Celebrate the Single Life (for a group of mostly men or women)
  • Truth or Dare Affair (if appropriate)
  • Valentine’s Day for Kids

Personalize

Once you have your theme, personalize the event in your own way. Our special cupcake liners are a great start, and this can extend to everything from invitations to party favors. Maybe you make a photo booth conducive to your theme, or maybe you create a themed sign-in board for everyone to enjoy. The options are virtually limitless.

Activities

No party is complete without a few great activities. If it’s a younger crowd, truth-or-dare type games can be fun if they’re kept appropriate. There are games both for couples- and singles-themed parties, or the intellectual crowd might enjoy a “history of Valentine’s Day” segment during the proceedings. If everyone is up for it, you can even make a party out of a day of romantic Valentine’s movies.

No matter what your choice, Simply Wrappers is here to accentuate the big day. For questions on Valentine’s Day designs or any of our custom cupcake liner products, talk to our friendly staff today.

Cupcakes vs Muffins: Which to Choose

As the premier providers of custom and themed cupcake wrappers in Utah, we know all there is to know about cupcakes at Simply Wrappers. One of the most common questions we get? What makes cupcakes better than muffins?!

In reality, both are great. Our cupcake wrappers can easily be used for muffins if the occasion calls for it, and all the same themes can apply for your party or get-together. How do the two products compare in terms of taste, texture and other intangibles? Let’s take a look.

Taste

This will obviously depend a great deal on the person doing the baking and the ingredients used, but there will typically be a distinct flavor gap between the two. The word cupcake is pretty straightforward about what it’s getting at: Miniature pieces of cake.

As such, cupcakes will generally be a bit sweeter than muffins, will usually have sweet frosting, and may even have a sweet filling in the center like some cakes. Muffins, on the other hand, almost never have icing or filling and will often come with more seeds, nuts or fruits involved.

Texture

Both products use the same basic ingredients, but cupcakes are usually lighter than muffins. This is because most cupcakes contain butter creamed with sugar, and a batter beaten for a longer time than a muffin. That fluffy texture is the goal for cupcakes, where muffins are denser. For party-planning purposes, muffins may crumble a bit more easily but cupcakes can also be a tad messier given frosting or filling that come with them.

Other Pros

Cupcakes: If there’s such thing as baking pop culture, cupcakes are at the center. They’re popular on TV and on sites like Instagram or Pinterest, and as a party favor, they’re bright and colorful. For a flashy party where you want to catch some eyes, this is the way to go.

Muffins: Muffins have much more of a healthy reputation, especially those not featuring chocolate. They’re generally a more understated snack, perfect for slightly more serious events or adult-only parties.

Other Cons

Cupcakes: They’re not as healthy as some might hope, and it’s far too easy to eat too many of them in one sitting. They can also be a bit messy, as we noted, and are more prone than muffins to issues with moisture buildup and wrapper peeling.

Muffins: Muffins aren’t exactly the hip thing for the kids’ birthday party. They’re not great for most bright, celebratory situations, and those health benefits we mentioned before are more mirage than reality in some cases.

Luckily, our custom cupcake liners at Simply Wrappers allow you the freedom to use your discretion on which party item is most appropriate – you don’t have to decide one or the other for good, thankfully! Tips for Throwing the Perfect Christmas Party

It’s nearly that time of year again. Yep, you guessed it – it’s time to host the yearly Christmas party!

As we enter this festive season, Simply Wrappers is here to set the standard for all your party needs. Our themed cupcake liners are perfect for all parties, and our special line of Christmas cupcake wrappers makes picking your theme and color scheme a breeze.

We’ve got your cupcake needs handled, but what about the rest of the party? Here are a few complimentary tips from us for throwing the perfect holiday get-together.

Invitations

The invitations you send are guests’ first introduction to your party world, and as such they’re very important. You’ll want to already have consulted with Simply Wrappers to get your color scheme worked out before invites go out – standardizing across the board is a great way to impress your guests.

Once that’s decided, get those invites out in advance! At least two weeks ahead is usually good, and maybe more. Everyone makes plans early for the holiday season, and there’s nothing worse than sending out your invitations too late and getting few RSVPs for something you’ve worked hard on. For the technologically inclined, evites are a good option.

Games

No Christmas party is complete without a couple fun games. White Elephant gift exchanges are a fun staple, and group games like Pictionary or Charades are great ways to keep everyone in the group involved and having fun. Games can also further your party’s theme – don’t hesitate to warn guests and ask them to bring a few important game-related items if this will be a big part of your theme.

Gifts

Whether or not you’re doing a White Elephant or any other kind of gift exchange between guests, a party favor here or there for guests is a welcoming way to entertain. Maybe it’s a special nut mix or a fun dessert, or maybe you create little personalized name tags for every individual guest that they can take home. As is always the case this time of year, it’s the thought that matters more than any individual cost or flashiness.

A Well-Dressed Table

Finally, nothing sets the tone for a perfect Christmas party like a full, well-dressed dinner table. Your custom cupcake liners from Simply Wrappers are just one part of a decoration agenda that could include everything from silverware to candles, and this is your best chance to show off your color scheme and impress your guests with an elegant presentation.

Ready to host the big Christmas party this year? We’re ready to help. At Simply Wrappers, our special cupcake liners are perfect for all special occasions. Our friendly customer service staff is awaiting your call.

Throwing a Themed Party

As the winter season rolls in, there are plenty of reasons to host a party. From festive holidays to seasonal get-togethers, there’s always a good excuse to celebrate something this time of year.

With all the potential special occasions out there, themed parties can be a great way to keep everyone in the spirit. At Simply Wrappers, our themed cupcake wrappers can set the tone for a dazzling and colorful themed event. From birthdays to holidays to a number of more specific themes, our selection of high quality custom cupcake wrappers is second to none.

We can help you get your template going, and here are a few other tips for planning the perfect themed party.

Color Up

Once you’ve picked a theme for your party, consistent colors are a great way to hammer it home. Pick colors that complement each other – red and green for Christmas or pink and white for Valentine’s Day, for instance.

From there, look to infuse your color scheme into every area possible. Everything from food plates to wall decorations can match, and special cupcake wrappers from Simply Wrappers are just another way to impress your guests with consistent colors.

Venue

Will your party be at home, or elsewhere? Both can have benefits.

Parties at home can be easier from a planning standpoint, because you don’t need to transport a ton of items between locations. It can also be cheaper in many cases, and doing it at home allows you to start preparing earlier.

Outside venues come with fewer cleaning concerns, however, and can hold major space advantages for larger parties. Be sure to think through details when deciding on your location.

Plan Shopping

Shopping for supplies can be a difficult and expensive process if you’re not prepared. If you need several items, it’s best to plan things out in advance so you aren’t panicking late.

At Simply Wrappers, we set the standard for ease of online shopping. Search products by color, event or design, and customize high quality cupcake wrappers to set the tone for the rest of your themed party.

Activities

Once the party is off the ground, keep your guests engaged with fun, themed activities. Christmas party? Plan a Secret Santa in advance. Superhero party for the kids? Get them the proper toys and cover up the picture frames on the walls. It’s up to you to gauge your guests and come up with fun ways to keep them entertained.

4 Reasons to Serve Cupcakes at Your Wedding

Looking for a unique personal touch for an upcoming wedding? It seems everyone is these days. Most people gravitate toward a fancy dress for the bride or a fun song for the first dance, and these are great, but can we get outside the box a little more?

At Simply Wrappers, we sure can. We offer one of the largest collections of custom wedding cupcake wrappers around, all purchased through our simple and convenient online system.

This is a big jump for some people – the cake is a big part of wedding tradition, after all. But there are several reasons cupcakes make sense over a typical wedding cake. Here are a few:

Multiple Flavors

The worst part of a traditional wedding cake? Only one flavor! Maybe (hopefully) the bride and groom can agree on a flavor they like, but will every single guest feel the same way? It’s unlikely, to say the least.

Cupcakes solve that problem, and allow you virtually unlimited flavor flexibility. You can accommodate allergies, or any particular guests. Add in some custom cupcake liners from Simply Wrappers and it’s a creative no-brainer, really.

Transportation

Who hasn’t seen a painful-to-watch YouTube video of someone dropping an expensive, four-story wedding cake all over the ground? That won’t ever happen with cupcakes – they’re much easier to transport from start to finish, including the period they have to spend in someone’s car. Even if an accident does happen, it’s likely you’re only ruining a small percentage of the cupcakes, rather than an entire cake.

Ease of Serving

Cupcakes are also much easier to serve to guests – most guests will be able to serve themselves, in fact. There’s no need to go through the process of cutting a cake (some venues even charge money for this). Yet another thing you don’t have to worry about on your special day.

Individual Decorations

Cupcakes offer many more personalization options than cakes, from the icing and color designs to the custom wedding cupcake liners provided by Simply Wrappers. You could write a message to special guests, or put a unique design on every individual cupcake. The options are virtually limitless.

Ready to make the jump from a wedding cake to wedding cupcakes? Simply Wrappers is ready to serve this and all your custom cupcake wrapper needs. Contact us today.

4 Pitfalls of Cupcake Baking to Avoid

At Simply Wrappers, we offer the highest quality custom cupcake wrappers for your events, parties and holidays. Our themed wrappers are perfect for any occasion, and our products and customer satisfaction are the industry standard.

Here’s the thing: To utilize our amazing products, first you need a quality cupcake. And as plenty who have tried and failed can tell you, this isn’t just as simple as saying it. What are some of the pitfalls you may run into as you’re going through the baking process? Let’s have a look.

Peeling From Liners

Cupcakes that peel away from their liners prematurely are one of the chief baking issues, and can ruin your presentation. Some of the most common causes of non-sticky cupcakes include:

  • Bad liners (not a problem at Simply Wrappers)
  • Hot cupcakes left in tins for too long – can build up steam and moisture in the cupcake
  • Moist cupcakes – whether it’s something like a fruit topping or anything else that can add wetness to the cupcake, this moisture is the main culprit

Short Cupcakes

Knowing exactly how high to stack your cupcake mix in the pan can be difficult – directions usually don’t specify, and even if they do, it’s a very precise science. As a result, sometimes cupcakes may come out too short to even get out of the pan, and certainly too short to adequately fit into a special cupcake liner.

One solution here is testing the rising capabilities of your cupcakes out in advance – use just a small amount of batter for a couple cupcakes filled about halfway up the liner, and see how it cooks. In cases where you still have issues, you can just add extra frosting.

Frosting Issues

Frosting isn’t just the proverbial icing on the (cup)cake, it turns out. Many people assume frosting goes on as soon as you pull your cupcakes out of the oven, but this is a mistake. You should give them at least an hour and maybe more in many cases, as extra heat left in the cupcake might melt your frosting and cause you to waste all sorts of time and money.

Transportation Problems

Down the same lines, don’t assume that whatever container you transport your cupcakes in is immune to temperature and other physical concerns. In warm months, the perils of melting frosting are serious issues. In winter, too much cold or moisture in the cupcakes could create a whole other set of issues. Make sure you plan out your transit well in advance no matter what season you’re in, just to be sure.

Now that you’ve got some baking tips, you’re ready to get cooking! For any questions here or about our wide selection of custom cupcake wrappers and liners, our customer service agents are standing by to assist you.

6 Tips for Planning a Labor Day Party

Are you getting ready to host an end-of-summer party this Labor Day weekend? The day is fast approaching, so use these tips to start planning your shindig:

  • Rent a Space. Many hosts and hostesses feel the only way to host a Labor Day party is by having it at their home. However, you can host a party at a park, hotel or other rented space. This makes it easier to get ready for the party because you don’t have to clean your home and yard.
  • Make it a Potluck. Does making a ton of food intimidate you? Take away some of the stress by asking your guests to bring a side dish or dessert to share. Then you only have to worry about providing the main meal.
  • Pick a Theme. Decorating and picking food may be easier if you have a theme to work with. Having a ‘red, white and blue’ theme or another patriotic theme may be a good idea.
  • Choose a Menu: If you want to make everything on your own, you need to know what to cook. Labor Day is often the day to grill out, so consider picking items that can be made on the grill, such as chicken, steak, hot dogs, brats, cheeseburgers, mushrooms, asparagus and cabbage.
  • Focus on the Dessert: For some parties, dessert is the most important part. If you want a dessert that can match any theme, you should consider the cupcake. This is a great party dessert because you can find cute wrappers, and you don’t have to worry about cutting it.
  • Keep Bugs Away. You can spray your yard before the party to keep bugs away. You may also want to use tiki torches, candles and bug wipes to help reduce the number of pesky bugs at your party.

  • No matter how many people you’re going to have at your Labor Day party, you need to make sure to have food and decorations to make it a day to remember.
